Ever since i've had my car, it has never gone below 1/4 tank. For the first time i didn't have cash with me to fill up so my tank is at the E line, a little below. And im wondering why my gas light won't go on, how can it be fixed?

i searched and couldn't find anything about it. thanks for the troubleshooting help.

MY gas light went on last night for the first time EVER and i was WAY below E, trying to get to a gas station, and then the little orange light came on. I was pretty amazed actually. So it probably works, but the gas gauges are just really effed up.

you still have a long way to go. In terms of running out of gas. when my shit ran out it was like a quarter below e if that made any sense.

It has to be WAY below e to turn on, thats just how it is.

It was a completely legitimate question, i had never seen my gas light go on and neither have these other posters. And it is in the right place, a gas light going on is considered general discussion , that's why it's in chat.

My light was working until I switched out my fuel pump. I was too lazy to complete the wiring.

The light is connected to the fuel pump? I didn't know that... That's probably why mine won't turn on.

the gas level is control by a lever type sensor and the gas light is controlled by another sensor on the fuel pump assembly. inspect the fuel pump assembly and replace if necessary.

Mine was replaced when I bought the car. What wire is it that controlls the light? I'll have to inspect mine soon.

I've had two s14s and have only seen the gas light come on 4 or 5 times, but it has to be really low to do it, and even then it's only happens sometimes. I don't think it's something that can be fixed, I looked for TSBs on it but couldn't find any.
