I remember reading somewhere about a problem with seatbelt failure, specifically in S13's with the automatic belts.
Somthing about the parts inside that connect to the door that can get old, brittle, and break?
They said if the red push button gets sun bleeched that it could be a warning sign.
Was there a TSB on this? I know all seatbelts have a lifetime warranty, so I want to get it checked before it's too late.
I don't want to kiss the wheel then go through the windshield &nbsp; <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cry.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

(i'm not yelling. just copied and pasted from a website that used all caps)

Type of Report: Vehicle
Potential Number of Units Affected: 2730462
Manufactured: 08/1986 - 07/1991
Defect Summary:
THE FRONT SAFETY BELT BUCKLE RELEASE BUTTONS CAN BREAK. THESE RED PLASTIC RELEASE BUTTONS ARE MARKED "PRESS." IF A BUTTON BREAKS, PIECES CAN FALL INTO THE BUCKLE ASSEMBLY CAUSING THE BUCKLE TO OPERATE IMPROPERLY.
Consequence Summary:
THE SAFETY BELTS WOULD NOT PROVIDE ADEQUATE PROTECTION TO AN OCCUPANT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
Corrective Summary:
OWNERS SHOULD PROMPTLY CHECK THE CONDITION AND OPERATION OF BOTH FRONT SAFETY BELT BUCKLES AND CAREFULLY INSPECT THE RED RELEASE BUTTON FOR ANY BREAKS OR CRACKS. THEY SHOULD ENSURE THAT BOTH BUCKLES ARE OPERATING PROPERLY BY INSERTING EACH LATCH PLATE INTO ITS BUCKLE, TUGGING ON THE BELT TO MAKE SURE THE LATCH IS SECURELY LOCKED, AND THEN PRESSING THE RELEASE BUTTON. THE LATCH PLATE SHOULD POP OUT OF THE BUCKLE WHEN THE BUTTON IS PRESSED. IF EITHER RELEASE BUTTON SHOWS A SIGN OF BREAKING OR CRACKING OR IF EITHER BUCKLE FAILS TO OPERATE PROPERLY, OWNERS SHOULD PROMPTLY CONTACT THEIR AUTHORIZED DEALER TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE BUCKLE REPLACED OR REPAIRED FREE OF CHARGE.

hmm, I wonder if I could talk them into replacing my entire seatbelt mechanism, it's been choking my friends when they open their doors every once in a while.

I went to the Nissan service center and they will replace your seatbelts for FREE. This is because there is a lifetime warrenty on the seatbelts, they are liable(spelling) if you get into an accident and you get hurt, Just bring your car to a nissan service center tell them you heard they were recall;ed back in the day and remidn them that there is a LIFETIME warrenty.. My place wants me to leave myc ar there for a day so they can inspect it and then bring the car back to get the new belts installed, I just haven't had time to do it..
