sidewall blowout

i just got some federal 595 SS, the front is 215 on a 8, rear is 225 on a 9. Tonight one of the rears inside sidewall blewout in a near perfect circle on the freeway with only 300 miles on the tires. My question is,is it such a rare thing that i should just buy another 225 for the 9 again? or just buy 2 235's on the 9's so i wont risk them blowing again. Damn this sucks, Now i have to buy new ones again!

well depending on how it blew out i would go back where you purchased your tire and either get it refunded or prorated.

Thats a defective tire, rim, or bad installation job. There's no way those sidewalls should blow, that's not even a stretch.

Go back to Autobacs and tell them, for sure.

Well there's obviously something wrong with the rim/tire mounting surface that would cause a sidewall to eat shit on itself. If it's a tire defect (most likely) and you still have the tire, take it to them and they should give you a new one.

something is definitely wrong, I've run a 215/40R17 on a 8.5 and 225/40R18 on a 9.5 with no probs, even on track days so yeh, maybe the tire had a leak cause ur tire pressure to go down? Or the rim wasn't true so a shudder caused the tire to unbead itself and blow like that? Can't really say but hopefully there is some kind of warranty with autobacs. America's Tire has those warranties

you most likely hit something; or had something hit you. it is very rare for a tire to just, explode. hopefully you bought a warranty for it.

no, i didn't buy a warrenty from them, they didnt offer anything of that sort to me. Also there is no marks anywhere on the tread, and i didnt feel anything. only indecation of the blowout at the time was the rubber smell.

btw, i was just looking at the tire again, the rubber valve stem is ripped in half. Could this have caused the blowout? or do you think it probably ripped after-words. Just last week i had one of the rubber valve stems tear/leak on one of the front tires.

Just bad luck/tire/rim.

I've had my 595s for a while now. 215/45/17 all around. I burn out in them, drift in them and canyon with them. Nothing has happened, I always do keep watchful eyes on my tires though.

Was nice to get new tires on my car. The ones that came on my car where baaad in the rear. When I did donuts, sparks shot out. Even while driving like a regular person an occasional spark would happen haha. Suicide tires.

Sounds like you drove on it flat. the only time i see a tire blown out like that in a perfect circle is when it is driven on flat for an extended period of time. It grinds the sidewall against itself until it separates. If you can't find a nail, then it could have been a bad valve or a leak from the bead in which case it would the the tire shops fault unless your wheel is bent/cracked.

yea, the cheap rubber valve stem is tore in half, just last week 1 of the front valve stems was also leaking/ripped in half. Will autozone carry the metal ones? and will they fit any rim or is there a certain type/size?

ofcourse it is probably either low pressure or manufacterer's defect but they are going to blame it on you anyhow. they will use your overly stretched tire as the fault.

Sounds like FEDS to me. JXN had 2 pairs crap out on him at the last event. One had a blow out on the freeway on the way there. Brand new tire blew right threw the tread!!!!

second one was a couple drift runs in, think it delamenated.
