Oil pressure sensor removal question

In reference to this thread:

http://forums.nicoclub.com/zer...age=1

I was under the car (s13, blacktop sr) tring to hook up my oil pressure gauge and I can't find a reasonable angle to get at the sending unit to remove it. I have a 26mm wrench, as stated in that article, and it seems a tad too small. What is the easiest angle/way to get the sensor off? Anyone? Am I brain dead and missing something?

27 mm long socket from the top worked fine for me. squeezed through the space between bracket and filter.
26mm or 1 inch socket is prolly closer in size. i just happened to have 27 mm. 4 inch extension.

i would guess you could use a small pair of pliers from top as well. just go straight in as if you were using a socket.

alright...I've got a 27mm deep socket. I'll try to reach in there with that from above. I gave up pretty quick from above the car since I'm usually barely able to get the oil filter from above.

you are golden. make sure it is a star socket. the six sided ones might be too fat to squeeze in. 26 mm long socket star socket is prolly ideal.

It's a 27mm anyway, but remove the intake brackets if you haven't already, gives a lot more access to that side of the block.

Ah. the 27 I have is only 6 sided. Just tried it...no dice. not enough room to get next to the filter with it. I'm not sure which bracket you're referring to?

i think your car is different from the ka24de. i'd try adjustable plier. should work if not rusted.

There's two large support brackets that support the intake plenum and bolt to the block. Remove and discard.

Gotcha Thanks for the help. I only had one of these brackets, the "Y" shaped one. Got it off the car...made the process a breeze. Not having a garage sucks. I'll wire it up in the morning.

^ Thanks for the info on the intake brackets. I kept looking at them and trying to see the need . In the trash they go.

From what I remember the oil pressure is supposed to be about 25 at idle and 50-60 something at WOT?

1/8" BSPT is correct. Different than 1/8" NPT.
