whether or not it's a salvage title doesn't mean much as long as the car's mechanically sound and the frame is straight. even if that's questionable, its up to you to decide whether or not it's acceptable to drive around. IIRC, salvage means that the car has been stolen before and/or it has been in an accident where the airbags went off, or it has been deemed a total loss.
You can have an entirely reliable salvage title vehicle that has never been crashed. Likewise you can also have a clean title vehicle that has been wrecked but remained clean because the accident/mishap was never reported to the dmv. Somtimes the dmw screws up their records. I once had a clean title crx and it was stolen. I reported it stolen to the dmw and later it was recovered. it was still a clean title afterwards as per the dmv. anyhow, clean or salvage title is not as important as making a thorough inspection of the vehicle before the purchase. selling a salvage title car might not typically command such a high premium as a clean title, nor might it be as easy to sell, but that depends on you as a seller. If I were you, I'd just get something new, cheap (or not), reliable, and save yourself the hassle. Last edited by ronmcdon; 01-19-2009 at 07:46 PM.. |

salvage hurts the resale value.. and if you mod it. If you ever get in a wreck or something, expect not to get much for it.
out of your selection, i say Q45, the quality feel and build of that car will make it hard to ever go back to a regular economy car..

yeah, fix your car, don't sell it every time something goes wrong.
Check the TRANS FLUID on that Q if you end up taking it, if it's all black and nasty, pass. If there is the slightest hint of timing chain rattle....PASS. If the power steering feels wonky and the fluid is nasty, PASS. Otherwise, buy it and enjoy it. They're expensive to fix though.

Option 4: total the car, say fuck it, and call it a day.
I think we have a winner.
