Gas Mileage w/550's

I found a thread where a guy was getting 14mpg on 740cc injectors, but can't find any info on gas mileage on 550's. any input would be great, but if someone with an upgraded turbo on an SR with 550's could tell me what they are getting, that would be even better. I'm going to get 550's either way, but i'm just curious.........

thanks
Scott

The only way injector size alone could affect gas milage is at idle. Besides that it's how they are tuned. The guy with the big injectors probably was running rich, to avoid dentonation and whatnot.

I was assuming that your air/fuel ratio was good. Besides that, what else affects gas mileage.

Eric, do you run really rich? i've never heard of anyone with stock injectors on an SR getting 15mpg.

I get 15 because during the winter my car permanently runs in "warm-up" mode. My trips are about 5 miles at most, and it doesn't get warm enough to lean things out. During the rest of the year, I get about 20 around town, and about 27 on the highway...just like I should.

On a KA+T with 50lb/hr (525cc/min) injectors, I get over 22, always, combined city/interstate. I have gotten as high as 26mpg on long trips, my roommate borrowed my car and saw 29mpg.

Eric, why doesn't your motor ever get warm enough to get out of warm up mode?

I was kind of worried I would be getting like 15mpg always. That's good to hear.

Because during the winter here, it is normally below freezing for almost the entire day. When the engine is that cold, it takes about 15 minutes of normal driving to get the coolant up to normal operating temp. My trips sometimes are 5 minutes or less. I know that sucks, but that's the way my life is right now.

It doesn't help that I have a huge Koyo radiator, either. But, now it's going to start getting hot again, so it's all good.
