SR20DET 89-90 PS for dummies... (tech info)

I recently did mine so here goes. For people who only have the motorswap and not a front clip. These are done by me and have not been proven in anything but theory yet.

There are two options for this swap. First is to use the total PS hoses and resovoir from the DOHC KA24. In this method you remove the entire SOHC PS assembly from the chassis. Attach the PS hoses to the proper fittings. This will, however, mean that the low pressure line will make a loop with the K-member (crossbar that holds the engine) and it doesn't fit well (for me anyway) into the SOHC line holdings. Ziptie it to the holes in the Kmember. This loop is good because it facilitates cooling of the lines (possibly the original intent). I mounted my resovoir to where the coil pack was attached.

Seconds method involves the retaining of the stock resovoir mount on the car. In this way you mount the high pressure line as normal. BUT The low pressure line has to be snaked from the steering coum to the resovoir and back to the pump. What you can do is get a length of the proper hose and place the return line into the back (or front) of the engien bay into the pump. This method should retain the stock Column-->resovoir line, but the new line must be routed. If you wanted to look execptionally clean then you could custom bend lines and follow the original high pressure line route and bring it to the pump in this fashion.
