dropped 10mm socket while install fuel rail, now grinding?!

hey all i installed some new injectors in my s13 ka24de and putting bolts/nuts back i happen to drop a 10mm socket right under the egr valve and it seemed to drop down near the starter. its no where to be found at this time but after i was done with the injectors i start my car and i hear a loud grinding noise then right after my starter would seize/lock up. as far as i could remember there is no opening anywhere near the starter that can let something as big as a 10mm socket into the tranny tunnel if thats where the noise is coming from. any ideas if there is a secret little hole or something?!
