Wierd whining (Have searched)

As the title says,i have a wierd whining sound,starting 2 days ago...
It just whines at idle i rev to 1200 gets a bit louder,and after i rev to about 2-2500 it stops...i also drive around it does it,and sometimes it stop for a few secs then starts again...
I pushed the clutch in and out for the classic throwout test...nothing...
I removed the coils to see if it was rod knock...nothin...
i had 3 240 owners with sr20's and rb's troubleshooting and were confused as hell as well as Roy GUDE (owner of Gude performance)
We are stumped...we have ideas it can be the tensioner,belts,air in the rack n pinion or alternator...
Im running totally stock besides intake and exhaust...
I am posting this to see if anyone else has had these problems and if they have any suggestions... i have searched and has been no help...,please help...This is F*ckin wierd...
