Which would you pick??

I was watching the matrix reloaded last night and parked at the theater near 2 real nice cars.

Pontiac Trans Am Ram Air (about 1999 ish)

and a

Nissan 300 ZX TT (last year made*)

*I never talked to the driver of the 300 but I overheard him say it was the last year they made them. Both looked stock and were black.

Anyhow there is a prime drag racing spot about like 2 minutes away from the theater down a highway where people like to go. The 2 cars were buddies (their drivers- I dont know if the cars got along well)

And my friend (who also has a nice car) knew one of them from school or something and proceeded to arrange some races (this was like 3 am)

the TA and the 300 raced 2 or 3 times and Im wondering what car YOU would choose if you had the choice?

Seeing that I own one! I would have to go with the 300ZXTT.

BTW: People don't bicker in this thread like I know will happen, it will be closed quickly if that happens.

I'd have to go with the 300zx, because 1) they're badass and 2) They only made around 4000 of them in 1996(the last year they were made)

Ehhh... two somewhat unappealing cars to me.

I'd have to drive both. Likely I'd end up in the Z32.

Subjective driving experience is all that matters. Straight-line speed, styling... a Jedi cares not for these things.

lol - but the B1tches LOVE them curvy lines Y0!!

and to stay on topic.. the 300zxtt anyday.. I hate GM interiors, and seating positions, and well,..everything about the inside of the car. and the ride is WAY too soft.. feel like I'm driving a Minivan on steriods

Yes in fact I did
Good job
Although i was mainly referring to the low end cars they make, seeing as the 350 in the trans am has been in production since before you and I were born and is still the standard in domestic performance.

Anyhow if anyone wants to know how the race went...let me know

I'm pregnant. After reading the three-page thread about the mustang, I'm very annoyed. I'm even more annoyed to find this thread where you compare and ask people if they'd choose a '96Z32 over a TransAm. Why? Don't annoy pregnant women. Pregnant women have major hormone imbalances which cause them to go off very easily. And with much strength. Be careful. Please.

IMO in straightline speed the TA would own the Z, I have seen some crazy TAs out there, plus TAs have a lot better aftermarket than the Z. I haven't seen as many modded Zs as I have TAs, and I love the sound of V8s/

I am sure there are some turbo TAs out there, so saying the Z has turbo isn't much of an advantage considering you could get the TA turbo.

Plus the no replacement for Displacement.

After saying all that I would choose the TA, but wouldn't have a problem choosing a Z32, Z32s look better IMO.

yah the 300 was a car length behind from right off the line, around, my guess....120 kms it pulled ahead sharply.

The TA was a 6 speed too, is the 300 as well?

NO. 300ZX is 5-speed.

i'd take the 300ZXtt any day of the week. F-bodies handle like ***, and I have friends with some very nice F-bodies. there's no way around it, handling on those cars sucks. and the twin-turbo Z engine is much easier to upgrade for huge power. yes, you could go turbo on the LS1, but that engine isn't made for it and you'd spend enough money doing it to get a second 300ZXtt. both are heavy though, and neither would be my first choice in that price range...
