Thumbs up Saw a STI WRX on the street today....

On my way back to chicago from woodfield I caught a glimpse of a STI today. It was pretty sweet....then he happened to get off at the same exit and we took turns passing each other and gave each other thumbs up...if i wasnt so into finishing my project 240 then i might have dropped it and started over w/that car...SO, anyone else see one yet??? Any first impressions???

Do we get an STi Wagon

Hey where did you see it at (street).I have still yet to see one, seen lots of EVOs, but no STis. Although someone told me that there was one at a dealership for like a week then it sold.

Are you sure he wasn't pointing and laughing at your car in its mismatched craziness

I was on getting off the highway at Cumberland near Foster. Heh, I don't know...maybe he was pointing and laughing but he liked getting behind me (probably to point and laugh at the primered car... ). BUT, I take pride in my mismatchiness, I'm doin all the work myself so...IT'S MY MESS...

I dont know if we get a STI wagon...I'm goin to Mid-City Nissan/Subaru tomorrow to pick up some parts, I'll ask em.

I got to see a dark blue one on my way to school. All i have to say is that its an evil looking car, i don't really like the headlights though. I personally can wait for the legacy sti with its twin turbo horizontally apposed 6. Now thats going to be a beastly car.

Do you people live in the boonies or something? Brand new cars top of the line cars seem to be the norm round here in socal. M3, STI, Evo, no big deal here.

That's the engine for the Japanese market. That motor will not be making it here. Projected arrival time is model year 2006. For now, Subaru has still not officially decided on which motor it will use.

As far as the STIs go, there is no such thing as a wagon. No such thing as a dark blue one either. It comes in Rally Blue (WRX Blue), black, white, and silver, that I've seen so far. I work for a Subaru dealership, and we've had a few in this far. I don't get why there is no foglights... Go figure. Otherwise, it's a very well designed car. Great drivetrain, beautiful brakes, awesome engineering. I've yet to see the Lancer.

And yes, it seems as if nowhere else in the states is as good as socal, doesn't it? We're all living in the boonies because, well, everything but SoCal is the boonie. Didn't you know that?

I was driving to autoX a while back and saw a new STi in a Subaru dealership's showroom. I stopped by to gawk at it for a while. That car is amazing, it was black with a little gold flake in the paint. It had a factory watersprayer over the intercooler, now that's pimp! Well I must have seen it right before the guy bought it, cause later that day it was at the autoX

and yes this is a cool thing for someone that lives in rural Missouri rather than the car mecca that is socal

Wow looks really nice in black. When will more people realize how sexy both the EVO and STi look in black. Too many people with red EVOs, but I guess that's cuz that is what was available. But I always like imprezas with the black and gold theme, specially the GC8

no STI wagon oh well, back to the STI ive seen a ton of em, 5 at the dealership the day after they were deliverd, while mine was getting an oil change, 3 on the streets round bethesda md. . . i love everything but the front end, should have kept the "bug eye" look with the big fog lights. . . and we are getting a hooked up legacy. . . called the B4 i have a pic of it, but cant post it. . . maybe ACE will do it for me later. . .

At my last autocross one of the guys just got a new one and parked right by my car. And I thought the group of people gathered by my car were just admiring the 240!!!!

I have always had a soft spot for Subaru cars. Ever since that damn song came out...(lol)

Fuji heavy industries makes so many things that unless you live in Japan, it is mindboggling to even try to imagine all they make. The make huge oil tanker ships as well.

Some of the finest engineering of automobiles IMHO...but they could use a few hints in the drop look style department. That car sits so high off the ground...but it was made to do battle in the snow and ice as well. When and if I go up north, while my 240 would be on the side of the road immobilized in snow and ice, the Subaru's will be passing at 45 MPH, safely.

I have yet to see one in South Florida. Plenty of Aston Martin Vanquishes (300K) Rolls Royces and Bentleys, Mercedes benz 55's and other exotics all over...but no Subarus yet...in Palm Beach county anyway. Might make a run down to Boca and see if any of them are down there. I also will check the website and look at the instrumentation.

Looks like a very cool car. I don't see us Nissonians bashing Subaru...which is a good thing IMHO...Respect for them.

BTW, I found these specs..
0-60 4.6
0-100 12.4
0-130 24.5
1/4 mile 13.2@103mph
5mph-60mph 5.8
top speed 145
braking 70-0 166ft
Noise level (dBA) idle 45, 70mph 74

Best car in the world for bad winter driving. They don't do, 2WD.

Mind-boggling:

Just last night I posted about us probably never getting the twin turbo legacy here. Well guess what. Subaru's considering detuning the motor, supposedly, for the 2006 model year. WTF? I'm losing it.

Fuji Heavy Industries is a great company, indeed, Bill. Too bad they're not well-known in the states.

I've always like the style of subaru cars. i like this front end better than the other. the other was too bubbly. here are a couple of pics that i took while on the drive. this guys was cool about getting his car pic taken. he was just cruisin on a friday nite with his girl. he gave me a thumbs up.

sorry about the photo. it was hard trying to hold the stupid camera still while moving. especially w/ racing suspension.

this one isn't any better but maybe some of you guys can till see the car.
