Exclamation break lights wont turn off...yes i searched

ok, its not the brake switch behind the pedal...i had this problem before and put a plastic thingy in place and it worked up till now. I tried turning on the car this morning and car wont start. jumped the battery and checked taillights and their on. tried putting something for the switch behind pedal and thought i was done but when i checked again, the lights were on...WTF

i searched and unplugged the little coupling that goes or connects to the brake switch and checked lights again and lights were on...i then plugged it back in and checked lights and they were still on, then put a piece for the brake switch and still lights on...serisouly...wtf is going on???

please help someone. im bout to blow my mind....

I was going to suggest that the hard rubber/plastic stopper on the brake pedal has disintegrated, but someone jury-rigged a bolt into its place...

It is possible that the switch failed. Does the plunger extend when you depress the brake pedal? Try sourcing a new switch.

The only thing i could think of is that you bought a bad switch(happend to my TWICE), or that you didnt adjusted the switch close enough to contact with the plate or that the bolt that presses in the switch when not braking is loose and need to be tightend which is a bitch to do. Its also good to have some one standing behind your car to tell you when the switch activates and deactivates when adjusting the switch.

if this helps, the other day it rained alot. now the night before. i changed my wipers and no taillights were on. so i dunno if the rain may have got into anything to turn the brake lights on? i pulled the rear lamp fuse and lights were still on. so i really have no idea whats going on.

ok, so i pulled the blue 15 thats inside hole 17 and the lights went out, but when i plug the fuse back in the lights come back on. so i would have to take the fuse panel off and trace the wires till i find them touching? and that should fix my issue?

yes, find the wire that controls the brake lights, (not the tail, the brake) find that wire i beleive its red with some color stripe, trace that wire to the brake switch... if theres no breaks or shorts in the wire, its the switch
