Unsure about a few KA-T things...
I'm still unsure about a few things with my KA-T setup Im planning.
1.) Im planning on running a T28. It's internally wastegated, but all the manifolds I see for the SOHC come with a hole for a wastegate. The ones few of the ones I've found are for T4, T3/T4, etc. (using ka-t.org and the ka24e-t FAQ here) Does anyone know of a SOHC manifold that's for a T28, without being ass-expensive? 2.) Even if I get a manifold for a the T28 + sr20 o2 elbow + sr20 downpipe, is this guaranteed to mate up to stock placement for exhaust? Or would this all depend on the manifold? 3.) Would the oem sr20 smic piping go around the charcoal canister? I was going to go with a stock smic for now, but looking at CA/SR sidemount piping, they dont look like they'd fit around the canister. 4.) sr20 370cc injectors + SAFC + retarding timing = ok for stock psi? I'm not looking to make monster, only about 220-250hp (eventually at least). Thanks. |

1) just plug the wastegate hole on the manifold (get a plate)
2) you can have a shop custom weld you a downpipe. got mine for $150 and has a wideband O2 bung welded on as well for tuning 3) maybe relocate teh canister? 4) stock PSI meaning 7PSI? make sure it is tuned. find a shop wiht a wideband who can give you a reliable tune. It is worth not blowing up a motor. ka-t.org talked about setting your timing.

you COULD get the t4 mani, and buy a t28 flange and have a shop cut and weld it for you.......wouldnt be much at all i would imagine.

Depends on the manifold. Everything Depends on the manifold 3.) Would the oem sr20 smic piping go around the charcoal canister? Why do you have all that emissions crap? 4.) sr20 370cc injectors + SAFC + retarding timing = ok for stock psi? Stock PSI on a KA? SR injectors won't fit on a SOHC I would get a T3 mani, GT32, Tial WG, injectors. Burn an eprom. Have a DP made locally. Time to do some more research.

I have the emission's crap...for emissions? When I researched the charcoal canister, I was under the impression that I needed it. And yeah, that's why I was asking first because it is way more involved than I thought ![]() |

yea SR20 wont fit, youll want CA18DET injectors, 370cc and they drop right in. That what i ran on my sohc turbo. You will need resistors spliced in the injector power wires though.
If you get a T3 you'll be much happier in the long run btw.

Does anyone know the dimensions of the SOHC head (relative to engine centerline would be nice)? I know the port spacing on the exhaust is an awkward 2 + 2'ish setup, not sure if it's narrower though, and actually doubt that you'd be able to make an effective spacer/ adapter to the SR manifold.
Easiest way to do a custom bottom mount setup for SR compatibility would be to just make a log manifold out of weld-els. At that point, though, you might as well just custom make everything.
