supercharger kit for a KA?
so I own a toyota celica gt, and although I've always wanted to get something different, probably an awd dsm, Ive always thought if I kept the celica, it would be cool to put a blitz supercharger on it, as I had read about a clutch engaged sc, that way I could switch it on, turn it off full time, and also have it kick in at 3500 rpms.
Custom Supercharged Toyota Celica Tuner Car - Turbo Magazine in the last year, Ive been through 3 engines, and my celica is still not really running. so although id like to get a dsm, I think a 240 is much smarter, as its still reliable, but still a fun car. Ive been looking for supercharger kits for it the last couple days, but havent really found any ka24de specific kits. does anyone know if theres something similar to the celica gts blitz kit for the 240? if not, what would be the best way to go to sc a KA24de? |

Do a search on here you will see a few topics on this, not too long ago someone was selling their setup as well. I believe the name of one kit in particular was Thomas...something. I can't remember. I don't believe they're still in production though.

ya, Ive definately been thinking about a 1g gsx, but those are pretty much the same thing as an eagle talon awd, and a plymouth laser rs awd.
but Im worried that a dsm wouldnt be reliable enough... Im sick of having a car that runs as much often as it doesnt. |

supercharging the KA is easy. get a Xterra or Frontier supercharger and have a machine shop make you a plate to adapt the runner part of the KA intake manifold to the supercharger. then tap all the necessary vacuum holes into the plate. the difficult part is lining up the pullies and making an idler pulley with bracket of some sort. after that just put some SR injectors and a piggy back and you'll be fine. at least thats what me and my friend did to his 97 about 2 years ago, still daily driven with the blower to this day

The DSM's are as reliable as any other car as long as you take care of it. I daily'd a GSX for almost three years with no problems.

damn, beat me to it. ^^^
A car's reliability is proportional to its owners maintenance/driving habits...I've seen cavaliers lap hondas in mileage/durability...all depends on the owner.. |

o wow i like... i have a question though even with a rom tune will this be able to pass smog? as in will it put out more smog so it wont be able to pass the smog test even with a tune? i live in cali and that's the main thing the supercharger looks stealth and like it belongs there so that wouldn't be much of an issue, but i was wondering is there anyway to get the intake pipe to go thru the oem route i.e. over the radiator?
thanks |
