The old 500's were not pre-lubricated with whatever they use to prevent rust. I've had the newer 500's for almost 3 years now & I have no rust. |

They have been a round quite a while...dsm and honda comunity uses there mounts quite a bit and they stood behind there warranty great for my freinds engine mounts. granted that is just an engine mount..on the phone with the rep(ams performance) they said they dopnt have hastles with warranty verry often at all, and the guy i talked to even said if im in an accidant and take pictures of a weld breaking or the body bending they will replace it no questions asked. that beeing said i do understand where you all are coming from. i can tell you i have a d%^K the size of a horse but when it comes down to proving it id most definatly come up short....
![]() I guess well see what happens i realy want pbm's but i realy cant stand waiting over a month to get something i paid for.... |

Your spelling, grammar, and association with the honda and dsm community lead me to be un-surprised at your decision to buy these coils. Then again, I was in your position once, about two years ago. I bought E-Motor coils off of ebay for $450, ran them on my car, had to droop the rear springs 2 inches in order for them to look decent, dampers blew in 6 months, etc. The only good thing about those cheap coils was that I was able to trade them for PBMs when my friend sold his car. But hey, they're coilovers, they have to be better than stock right?...
Edit: Maybe there's a reason why PBM has a wait on their parts and drop engineering doesn't.

My spelling/Grammar is to be partly blamed on me smoking a cigarette on break at work typing this up on a phone...my apologies for upsetting you with my poor engrish. I never once nocked PBM i love them and chances are if i was trying to build a car to take to the track on a budget they would be my choice, however im not. Im sorry about your choice to buy e-motor coils and subsequently them sucking ass. Im sure you also saw this coming. Now onto the dsm thing, if you search(like i did) for reviews theres tons of happy customers in the dsm community this does not make me apart of it. I grew up around honda's and they ended up being one of the first things i fell in love with, i just sold my acura rsx type s last year because of boredom and having the same thing everyone else had. That being said i ended up here with a 240sx that i stumbled across for a decent deal in Wisconsin that's not completely rotted out. but no matter how i look at it its a midwest 2000$ car that i cant justify spending all of my income on that you blessed people in cali can. I don't mean to come off like im upset, im not, i expected just the mere thought of someone considering a new product to be flamed upon, however i didnt expect to be flamed for being into another car besides my 240sx. i guess my point of this thread was to inform people who were "interested" in the new product of information ive learned about it so in the future people can do a google, end up here, and see that hmmm a pbm z32 sleeve will fit these or that thus far i have had good experience with them as a company. that is all
edit: yes most people in the dsm and honda community are cheep ass morons. just testing the pavement on a road you and apparently no one else has traveled. thanks |

Me on a typical unemployed California high school kid budget was able to scrape enough money together to attain PBM coils and adjustable arms. I'm not saying PBM is the best, but they are known to be a quality product. I was not given money by my parents, I was not helped out by other family members. I worked my ass off mounting tires on a 50 dollar harbor freight tire mounter for two summers to fund my car. Also, what does location have to do with your ability to spend money? And right now I reside in Texas anyways because I was fed up with California. I traveled on the path of cheap, unknown coilovers and paid the price for it. If I were to do it again I would much rather save up and get a quality product.

I'm saying our cars aren't as clean(i have rust on frame and suspension components) and without storage probably wont last two more years. i make enough money that i could easily drop a 2j and put kw coil overs on this thing. point is im not dumb enough and it would be a huge loss 2 years from now.

Look, green Megan Racing coilovers!
Hahha. But seriously, save up some more and buy some real coils, you won't regret it. Fortune, Feal, PSM pro, etc.

Ummmm... Not really. Not till you get into the $3k range for dampers and springs.

Good dampers start at $2500. Will drop engineering coilovers do what you want them to do(slam your car)? Probably. Now will these cheap coilovers perform on a linear level? Nope. Will you know the difference between a good performing damper and a poor one? Probably not. |

PoorMans180sx - Wasn't trying to put you down with that quote.
It was meant to point out that poor Chinese quality parts are cheap purely to produce sales. Quality U.S. built dampers cost $3k because function is expensive. |

I just pre-ordered PBM. 3 - 4 weeks till they're in.
The wait just makes it that much more exciting. Buck up and get the good stuff the first time.

Thank you for the input and replies I did decide against them because they are way to middle ground and close to price of "decent" coils out there. Could be the needle in the haystack but I'm not going to find out at that price... Thx again

I second this, find some used legit coilovers in good condition for that price. I bought some tanabe sustec basic coilovers for like 450 . They do the job and have held up just fine.

I have had drop engineering coilovers on my s13 for 2 years now and not had a single problem with them. Honestly they were worth every penny I spent. I can go lower than the we drift cars (total body height kuz I dont have a body kit) and I get Better traction in the corners than my friends with pbms and stance super sports (my car is autocrossed, not drifted). Ive always told people that drop coilovers are great coils and they are! Just because they have a smaller name and are less expensive doesnt mean they work any worse than overpriced name brand coils. Btw I adjust them once a month at the least and they have no rust or wear. And they have about 30,000 miles on them and counting
