Is there any difference between 95/96-97/98 stock tension rods besides left and right?

How do you know which is left and which is right?

The reason why im asking is because my friend let me barrow his 97-98 tension rods and i have a 96. I also replaced the control arm and his tension rods wont line up right and the bolts wont go through the LCA holes. Its almost in the whole but I dont want to force it to go in. Anyone have any suggestions?
