s14 s14 lights and engine sputter problem, no idea what it is

s14, s13sr20det, basic mods; fmic, 3 inch exhaust, coilovers, electric fans, boost gauge. just a btw.

so i went to go drive the car when all the sudden out of the blue the tach started to freak out, along with everylight in the car (gauge cluster boost gauge, radio) and my headlights and taillights all flickered and with the flickering my engine sputters as well. but only when im driving it...when the car is still and idling it is perfect..

i have no idean what can control all of these things..
i have checked my battery terminals and that was fine, and my wire harness isnt rubbed through at all.. so if someone can help? has this happened to anyone before?

ive read that it could be an alternator that idk how it could be that cause when the cars not in motion it is completely fine. i also checked my fuse box and all my relays checked out good as well.

anyone have any ideas?

Unplug your speed sensor and see if you can drive it.

sounds like an earth problem. I would check all the main earths in the engine bay and then once you have checked/fixed them, if its still doing it will need to pull up some of your carpet and or interior panels and check the body earths to.

Im having some of the same symptoms in mine too. Gonna try replacing the ECU and see if that works. Also some zilvian told me to check some of the wiring behind the cluster and around the steering column.

But let me know after u change ur ecu if its still there. I thought it had something to do with the wire harness cabin plug thing that u have to plug in and tighten it down with that lever, I thought it was loose which could have caused it but it wasent. Lol

This one time after a swap, I didn't tighten down the bolt on the alternator. I would drive it and it would Buck from serious power loss, then run fine. Check for corrosion on the alternator connection thing that's like an O and you put it over the bolt and tighten down the nut. Dont know how else to describe this... lol.
