####, all those ppl did was complain on there. i didn't feel like signing up for another forum, so i just thought i'd ask this question here. is a collectors car only a car that has been discontinued? would that mean that the 240SX would never be brought back?

Hmm.... I don't know if I like that. I want the 240 to be brought back some day. Preferably soon.

btw... They're a bunch of whiners over there aren't they?

that won't work in canada. here, there's only collector, not classic, and your car has to be at least 15 years old. lotsa rules too, like you must be on the original tires, paint, etc.

i think they'll probably bring the s16 here as an suv.
oh, i really hope not

original tires???
Jeez, that sucks...you could only put like 40,000 miles on the car over the whole time you own it.

General rule here on collectibles/classics is at least 15 years old, and be somewhat rare. Doesn't have to be discontinued (they still make Impallas, Mustangs, and Corvettes), and I've hear nothing about original tires, that's just ludicrous

after i get out of college, n if i work for nissan, i'm gonna try to get them to stop smoking their crack n let me take over. i would re-issue cars from the past that nissan has made n bring them to the states n everywhere else. say u didn't have the chance to buy a 1990 240sx n now all of them r worn down by now, well there would be a new 2005 240sx, but it would exactly like the 1991 version, but it would be newer n have the option of the sr20det or sr20de. seriously, i would want them to bring back the best 300zx tt, skyline gt-r & gts-t & gt-s, silvia/240sx q's n k's, pulsar gti-r, a new car to release to the public, n just have really minor changes done to them, n only one year, in other words, only make a 240sx that was made in 98 instead of re-issuing all the different year versions. it would be a lot better than having them produce all those futuristic looking cars, i really think that ppl would go for an idea similar to this, don't u? oh yeah, n it wouldn't be cool to do this every year w/ every car, so it would be better to only do it like every 10-15 years, n not make 2 many of each one, but just spread them out so that they won't become like honda civic's.

I think yer smoking crack. Reissuing past vehicles would be slick n all, but in addition to cutting back the rarity of existing cars, it'd drive Nissan bankrupt. Even though they don't need to do more R&D, getting parts supplies lined back up, shipping, ads, it'd all be a nightmare. Bad things man, there'd be no more Nissan. . .

u had to go ahead n ruin my dream didn't ya . i just think i brought that up cuz i'd rather c nissan put out cars like we all have now, not like the concept cars. i do like how the nissan sentra se-r v-spec is though. who knows, i'll probably end up buying a 350z or one of the gt-r's in the future....possibly.

yeah, definately. Nissan needs to stop making these cars that you would seen in a movie based in 2020. Then again though... it's not just nissan. A lot of manufacturers are starting to do this. Ford Focus, Toyota Celica, Toyota MR2, some of the new mercedes... Audi is getting there with the TT.... Oh yeah, and the new RX-8 from mazda. I think we're going to see another big change in cars, and they're not going to go back. It happens about every 10 years... the 70's were all about muscle, and like... smooth flowing lines with curves attatched. The 80's cars were really boxy for the most part. Toyota's especially. The 90's gave us the style we all know and love, and now 00's are starting to look like the F117 stealth fighter.

Japanese car companies already do it in Japan. For example, you can buy a new Land Cruiser 70, which is the exact same thing as a 2dr Land Cruiser from 20 years ago. Volkswagen still sells the Old Beetle in Asia and Europe. Its a popular new trend.

As for the original tires thing, its true. Its a Canadian thing. The car also doesn't have to be rare, but just in mint condition. Also, insurance is $200/yr if you have this status.

c, all that stuff is happening overseas, i seriously don't c the point in a lot of the respectable car companies marketing their, in my opinion, better cars overseas n not in the US. i mean, they could make a pretty decent profit if they did it in the US as well. look at this site, i haven't seen one person say that they'd rather have the 240's come w/ only the ka24de rather than the option of the sr20det or sr20de.

Definately. I do really want them to make the 240sx again though. I mean... as much as I wish it would, my car isn't going to last forever, and by the time I need a new car, the 98 240sx will be too old. (I think...)

I'm lazy, I can't read all you guys have written up there, but how can a 240 be a collector's item if it's still being produced in Japan as a 200SX. The car isn't completely gone, just the USDM version is. I doubt they'll approve the request. Maybe I'm wrong, you never know... Please don't be mean to me if I am wrong, have love...

Building on the success of the current S15 Silvia (though one we in the UK have yet to even experience) comes initial info on it's successor, the S16.
Borrowing an all new rear drive chassis, to be seen first in the forthcoming XVL sporting saloon, the car will reposition itself as a bargain performance coupe. This is intended to distance it further from the forthcoming new Z-car and R35 GT-R, and will be done in part by the introduction of a new VVT 2.0 litre, which doesn't resort to expensive turbo charging.
In the looks department the car builds on the distinct style set by the current car, but definitely no complaints there. Nissan will hopefully see fit to produce a replacement to the Spec-R and at last let their UK customers get their hands on the more decent metal we know they're capable of making.
