Time for a new clutch + flywheel suggestions?

Hey guys, my car is in the shop as we speak, its a 1991 180sx from Japan, and the clutch went out. They called me back today letting me know i needed a new clutch and flywheel. Ive had my eyes set on an exedy stage 1 kit EXEDY Stage 1 Clutch Kit S13/S14 SR20DET 06803B as my car probably makes no more than 250-300 ft lbs torque, but i have no idea what flywheel I should get. Any input would be greatly appreciated on what kind of set up I should go with, and maybe even some deals that you guys know of?? Thanks alot!

Cheapest answer, stay with the stock flywheel. Just get it resurfaced.

if you are close toe 300ft/lbs... why would you only go stage 1?

i dont think im close to 300. At most 250

I don't believe this is an option, aftermarket clutch and flywheel were already in it.

Stage two is good for 295ft lbs.

is there anything like a combo clutch kit + flywheel together?? I dont really want to spend more than $1000 on these parts

A hyper single would be good, but at that point throw another $500 for a twin disk of some kind.

It does not matter if you have an aftermarket flywheel or OEM, it will need re-surfacing (meaning made flat on the friction side)

Have a look on frsport or enjuku racing, both places have decent clutch kits suitable for your needs for under $500, should not cost more than $75 to have your flywheel re-surfaced, cheaper than a new one.

I meant, if you're gonna spend that much on a clutch, go all out.

You should only buy as much clutch as you need.

A crazy aggressive clutch will increase the wear on your transmission and axles.

Well, You could always talk to Bardabe, they did good work with RPS and though I didn't get the one I wanted, they worked something out and now I have an Aluminum JWT Flywheel and 300ZX Clutch and Flywheel from them too. My setup feels super stock with a Nismo Slave but I know I've got crazy headway.

Alright, Ill ask the shop tomorrow if they can re-surface the flywheel. I mean my car does have a few modifications like fmic, pretty sure the turbo is the same (dont know really as the car was already modified in japan before i bought it) stock size, and standard bolt-ons like the filter, exhaust, and lots of suspension parts which probably don't matter in the case of clutch selection, so i doubt its more than 250ft/lbs tq.

I can hook you up with an RPS Sport 6 puck which is good for about 340ft/lbs of torque (around 400hp). I hold the best prices on these clutches period. We have plenty in stock let me know if it's something you'd be interested in.
