Broken axle. Need help!

So, I broke the inner cv joint and it chewed up the spline. I didn't put the axle in the car originally, but I thought it was a j30 axle, so I ordered a j30 driver side axle. I received it and realized its a lot longer than the broken one I pulled. They look the same, just different lengths. I know the driver and passenger side lengths are different, but is it possible the axle I pulled isn't a j30 axle after all? Could anyone look at the attached picture and tell me what the deal is? I don't want to order another wrong part. Don't bash me too hard, I just want to fix my car!
