All S13 owners, help me decide

I currently own an S14 kouki, but I've been thinking about selling it and buying an S13 coupe instead due to financial reasons. My question to all of your S13 owners is this: What year and options would you have gotten for your S13? I'm thinking maybe a '91+ because of DOHC, SE model for ABS/VLSD, HICAS? HUD? power windows/locks and such. So hard to decide, so advise me with what you can. Also, keep in mind that this will be daily driven, not some all out track car. My priorities are (highest to lowest)comfort, conveneince, handling, power (maybe SR later on). I am in no hurry to fix up this car, I need to focus in school to graduate first. Mainly daily driven for school, work, going out. Let me know what you would prefer. Thanks.

If u want comfort and convenience, get the model with all the options like power windows/locks (SE model). If you're going to go SR later on, it doesn't really matter if you want to get the DOHC or SOHC model.
But yeah, S13 is such a nice car, if you have the money, go for the s14, if you want something to play around with, get used to driving or take to the track, get an s13.

Get a 93' LE. likely to have lower miles, and LE comes with all the fun stuff.

consider ur insurance payments too, since u mentioned financial reasons... s14 is treated as a compact car by my company (allstate). s13 is considered a sports car, with way more expensive insurance. find out from ur company.

if i were to buy another car i would get an SE coupe because i want a sunroof and power everything. there isn't as much room as in the hatchback so you might want to go that way. there are plenty of SE hatches out there, comparatively, just get one in good shape. don't worry about HICAS (most people disable it anyway) and VLSD, easy swap. ABS might be something to look for though.

91+ Se/Le mos are power windows, power locks, some with sun roofs, etc. easier for SR swaps reservoir is on the right side where as on the SOHC its the opposite

Hicas doesn't come in a coupe.

So basically your choices are:
1. vlsd
2. leather interior
3. automatic tranny.

I would get a VLSD equipped non leather manual coupe. That would be all. Leather seats crack, don't offer great support and cost more for nothing. Automatic tranny are slow and I'm not into doing tranny swaps and a non vlsd equipped car will not offer the same handling.

personally i'd get an inexpensive 92 or 93 coupe, because i would not really want the superhicas/ ABS/ VLSD combo that only hatchs have and i prefer to keep my valuables in a trunk away from everyones prying eyes.

'91 base model

'91 cams= most aggressive
no sunroof (stiffer/rollcage compatible)
no abs (simpler)

i think kat is right about the lack of hicas in coupes. but do you really want it anyway?

we just talked about this in another thread. 91-93 have the aggressive cams. the 91' only having them is a myth.

s13

I have a 1991 Base model. A/C but no ABS or sunroof. I don't like the S13 power options; I think the stock spoiler and rear windsheild wiper are HIDEOUS and serve no purpose. I have no problem with rain on my back window. Nor do I need my hatch to be rematurely rusted out. Don't like the S13 steering wheels with cruise control either, but thats just me.

I'd get a 91-93 base model fastback, something about the coupes just looks like it was a last minute idea.
