No rpm read on tach and hks evc
I just put my car back together iacv valve and t bolts clamps etc.. I haven't worked on my car in over two years today I got it running. It runs pretty good however There no read on the tach for the rpm signal and no signal to my hks evc which also reads rpm signal. I had the hks wired before and it was fine. However I did have the console under the steering column hooking up a boost controller nothing I did should of effected the rpm signal. I know the cas on the bellhousing is for diagnostic only and my distributor should be fine car runs pretty good. I see there's two fuses wired in the line on the wiring by the distributor and it's fine what else could effect this

Check the signal wire on the ecu or connect to consult to see if you have an rpm signal. Pin 3
For 63 62 e5 e6 idk for ka Sent from my Highly Tuned Galaxy S3.4!!!

So what your saying is, yeah pin 3 is the tach signal and the hks evc Is wired to pin 3 and you still don't have a tachometer signal. Check the pin on the ecu plug, open the ecu check the pin, if all good from there, get a Nissan consult, program or device look at the rpm signal, if the ecu has an rpm signal and the other devices, (cluster and hks evc) don't the tach output is broken in the ecu. This can be circumvented!

The first test would be to look and see if the wire broke at the ecu plug, a visual inspection. Then a continuity test. continuity test the pin on the ecu, to the wire, to the hks evc. continuity test the trace to the pin and the harness and to the hks evc. if the other test yielded nothing.
Like I said, test the ecu with a consult program to confirm the ecu is getting a tach signal If it is, the problem lies with the out put tach signal, you haven't confirmed that yet.

I noticed if I wiggle the rpm wire going to the ecu my hks will show signal my dash won't however I'm checking for engine coded tommrow I got a 41 which is intake temp sensor I believe if it stays blinking it's the cas maybe I pulled on the rpm wire to hard not sure how I wwould go about repair ing that

Set the for multimeter for a continuity test.
![]() Wiggle the wires while making a solid contact with the multimeter. It should keep a strong tone, if the tone cuts in and out make the necessary repairs and retest until the tone is present and stays strong Sent from my Highly Tuned Galaxy S3.4!!!

Ok cool is there something I can do to eliminate the chance it's the distributor I read the fsm and it is telling me only how to test for the camshaft sensor inside not the crankshaft sensor inside I visually checked the wires what I'm asking if I don't get a consistent connection at the ecu should I diagnose at the distributor or the harness going to the tach if I am right a bad connection at the ecu the problem is the input for the engine especially since my hks has no signal and it's right off the ecu. I need a good how to diagnose distributor for crankshaft sensor malfunction

If consult, or consult program displays rpm then it probably not anything else but the output signal. Sent from my Highly Tuned Galaxy S3.4!!!
