Exclamation custom transmissions for KA and SR...

ive found some pretty cool info. im not 100% certain on this stuff, but its very possible. i was at a friend of mine's shop, and he had a bunch of tranny's laying around. a few of them looked like nissan tranny's b/c the bell housing looked identical to my KA bell housing. sure enough, they were old 240Z, 260Z, 280Z, 280ZX tranny's. she said her dad uses them for her MG's. anyways, i talk to him, and he uses nissan tranny's to replace his MG trannys (with use of adapter plate). then he goes on and tells me how each box has different ratio's, and he mixes and matches them to get the gear set up to his preference. he used a tall first, then 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, are really tight together, and then he uses a tall 5th gear for cruising and gas milage... now, the only part im not sure about is the rear end of the tranny. its not quite the same, but it looks like it should match up with the rear bell housing of our tranny's. now, if we could do that, we could make any gear box we'd like. also, you should be able to use this on an SR since you can use an KA tranny on an SR with a bell housing swap. so, you SR guys may have some custom gear box options now as well. im gonna try and talk to him some more and see what it'd take to get the rear of the KA tranny to work on these datsun gear sets. that was kinda long but i may have stumbled onto something pretty cool!!
