s13 Auto to SR20DET 5 speed swap - reverse=neutral?

I got my car back after the swap, but now the reverse (backup) lights come on when the car is in neutral. When I am in reverse (or in gear), the light goes off. So it's simple - the reverse and neutral sensor wires are switched, right?

So following another thread, I traced some wires coming from the tranny to a junction box near the engine fuse box. (see photo - wires from tranny go into plug w/ multi color wires - was connected to middle receptacle.)

What pair are for neutral and what pair are for reverse? If I can get the pin outs, I can figure it out. Otherwise I can use a multimeter or continuity tester but that is not reliable (because I have a cheap one)

any help is greatly appreciated!

either you've got your switches switched (pun intended) or there's a wiring foulup. this is a very easy fix.

Did you pay a shop or somebody to do it? Take it back to them and make them fix it !

the shop is 200 miles away.... this would be an easy fix if I knew what wire to splice.

mrmephistopheles, can I just stick a continuity tester in the plug, shift into reverse, and see which combo of 2 wires light up?

I'd bet they switched the neutral and reverse switches when they changed them from the old tranny.

Easy fix.

The reverse switch is the one on the front of the tranny:

Neutral position switch is the rearmost switch.

Move the wires, and voila!

weitau - yeah. if you're familiar with electronics, go for it. It's really simple.
