ka24de timing issue (pics)
ok car is a 95 s14 ka24de. ka24det if it really matters. so it was running perfect until oil pump went out. so i pulled the motor and replaced the oil pump along with a new timing chain kit. everything was installed according to fsm specs.
car starts and idles good. but as soon as i give it gas it kinda struggles. it doesnt rev up like it used to. so i check the timing with a timing gun. its obviously off but i have to turn the distributor fully clockwise just to get it close to stock timing which is 20 degrees btdc. now i know thats not normal but car runs a little better but its still not right. i can drive normally but as soon as i mash the gas pedal the car goes nowhere. power is not there... just feels and hears like the intake is sucking a lot of air. i took top chain off and took pics putting it back together. crank pulley set at tdc. ![]() cam lobes facing outward. ![]() timing chain marks lined up with cam sprocket marks. ![]() cant really see it but silver chain link lined up with mark on idle sprocket. ![]() distributor marks lined up before putting it in. ![]() cant really see it but how the dizzy marks look when inserted. ![]() dizzy rotor lined up with #1 wire ![]() so did i do anything wrong?
