A better place for this discussion would be here:
http://zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=124925 But quickly, JWT S3 or Tomei 260 would be a better match. |

I personally like the power band Tomei 256/260 combo makes on small frame turbos but at the same time I don't have experience with any JWT came.

A stock engine will hold 350. You went through all the trouble of building the bottom end for an additional 30~ horsepower? Why on Earth would you use a forged piston with a bottom mount T-25 turbo? I keep seeing people do this and its making me crazy. They come back in 5~months saying their $5000 bottom ends failed, leaving me wondering who is doing the math?
Forged pistons are for, you know, more power. 500 at least from a top mount, blanket, methanol, 93. You dont drop a forgie for 30 or 40 extra horses, you do it for 150+ |

I dont even care what back side. I am just saying a stock engine supports a 38 or 40lb/min turbo, so why would you go through the heartache of installing forgies only to run a 44lb/min ?
A forgie should take you to 55+ |

Dropped a valve put a hole in number 3 cylinder. If I'm pulling it apart I'm going to up grade some shit. It's not like I tore the hole thing apart just for the hell of it. |

I don't disagree with that. Unless you know you will be upgrading in the future. Who doesn't do that? The quest for more hp never ends.

And 5k for a bottom end...haven't spent that much on everything I've got with new piston, rods, bearings, oil pump, timing chain, all the machining I have done. A lot of guys that spend money todo a bottom are 17 years old and also doesn't understand ring gap, oil clearances, or compression ratios. You start talking about checking line boar with a dial boar gauge and they look at you as if your speaking Spanish...

With that said, the S3 IMO is a better 'street' based cam, the S4 being better suited to track rats, which spend their life 4500 rpm+ I'll forever and have forever supported teh JWT S3 cam. It's hand's down the best 'all around' street based cam you can get. Capable of big power regardless of the turbo, and yet aimed at the 3000-6000 range for best response. I'd say if you're only ever driving to Wawa, car shows, and well, 'Mexico' that S3's will serve you well. If you're driving at Watkins Glen, Palmer, NJMP, etc, then JWT S4's are your ticket. With that said, S3's will still kick ass on track (at the expense of some top end compard to the S4), and S4's will still kick ass on the street (albiet slightly softer down low where the S3's work)
