Code 34 knock sensor and rough idle.

I have a sr20det and its having issues. Loss of power mostly. I got the knock sensor code and replaced the knock sensor. I clear the code after and start the car only to develop a rough idle. On a cold start it was idling high then it was jumpy. I tried to pull the tps to set ignition timing again but as soon as I pull tps the idle gets even worse. Jumping from 1300 to 2000. How do you set ignition timing like this? Before I replaced the knock sensor it idled fine. Old sensor tested bad so I asumed that was it. Now it appears the code comes back. Not sure what else to do. I don't like other people/shops working on my car.
