How I left the S chassis for the X chassis.

When I had the opportunity to get myself a X chassis I knew I had to get on it. Around May of this year I was just getting out of my FRS lease and I had no plans of keeping it. I have drifted it at several events and I just missed the feeling of a 90's car.

It just so happens that my buddy Grant who I originally sold my second Zenki to randomly texts me asking if I knew anyone interested in buying it. I immediately said I was interested and a couple of weeks later I owned my old car again.

After I picked up the car I started to see the little issues here and there so I wanted to freshen it up a bit. I decided to contact old connections for parts and somehow ended up getting talked into owning a JZX chassis.

We probably talked all night and I didn't get home until 1-2am that night. When I got home all I could think about was how I would make this move work. I just bought my S14 back and I need to find cash quick.
I then decided to part post my S14 for sale. There were some bites, but I wasn't going to get anything close to my asking price of $9,000. I knew I had to find another way so after several people inquiring about parts. I decided to part my S14 out. I thought this would be a good way to not see the car as a whole again and would get me more money in the long run.

I did it, somehow I managed to part the car and sold every piece of it. I made roughly $13,000 by sticking to my guns and not moving much on my prices.

So here we are with my new chassis. I picked the car up a few days after I got most of my cash ready. This was a completely new territory for me.

Car had some goodies, but you can tell it needed some work. It came with a set of Work XT7's. I decided to sell them since I sent my AVS 5 for chrome (originally for my S14) to offset the cost.

Took it to a drift event to find issues that I may have not noticed before.

My friend Brent offered up a set of TE37's that were suppose to go on his Z. I had to hop on them and because I love TE37's (never really owned a set until now).

Ever since then I feel like all I've been doping is maintaining this car and not having fun. I ran out of funds for a bit as I just started a new job so not enough to get the car where I want it. The coilovers that came with the car were blown and so I replaced them with a custom set of BC's. Not enough funds to ball out on custom Stance and you can't really beat custom spring rates, valving, pillow ball front/rear for $995 shipped!

Another reason I got new coilovers was because the rear lower mount bushing was shot. I broke 2 right rear knuckles due to the vibrations when drifting.

After testing with the new coilovers it proved to be much more solid so I think it was a good call on that. I also had TONS of vibration in the front end and I assumed it was the upper ball joints. I purchased some IS300 ball joints since I found out they use the same as the JZX's.

I got an alignment afterwards because I needed to go on a road trip with the JZX.

Went down 5 and car was great. I did notice that oil temps got a bit high through the valley so will get a nice oil cooler setup soon. Other than that the car performed well at 28mpg average and I was very happy.

My new job has fabricators and painters I've been working with on some stuff like my subframe and arms. I purchased all the bushings for subframe and differential so I started working on the car when the parts came.

Test fitted to make sure bushing fit properly. Then I'm cleaning the subframe up to prep for paint. Picked up some goodies as well.

That's all I have for now. I will update as soon as I finish up my subframe and get the car back on the ground. Prepping for a drift event on November 25th so I'm very excited to get a feel for a much more dialed machine.
