Electric Fan for the Koyo Radiator
Hey all. I was wondering what size electric fan most of you use for your koyo radiators. And how much cfm's are you running. (how many cfm's would be good to cool an SR?) Also, what works better for you? Puller fan? or Pusher fan?

Stock mechanical fan & shroud. Never had any overheating problems, and that includes a half dozen track events (2+ hours of track time at each event) in the 110+ degree california/nevada summers.

The stock shroud also completes the engine bay, you can notice this void on 90% of sr swaps. Only go with some electric fans if you drop some sort of nissan inline 6 motor...

Not at all. The stock e-fan and shroud fit like stock. The fan sits a bit closer to the shroud, but there are no clearance issues provided you properly secure the shroud to the radiator (like it's supposed to be)

Flex-a-Lite Dual 12in.
Thats what I have. Fits really snug. Had to trim it slightly but it was an easy fit. Quote:
Some people want control..so they can leave the fans running at all time or have an adjustable thermostat. They don't want there car to sound like a truck. Some people think it will cool better. I got e-fans b/c I didn't have a shroud.

keep the stock fans and shroud, or OEM electric fans from other cars. I had the Flex a lite 210 fans and they sucked, overheating with a/c on, and overheating on the track under 105F degree summer. it's so loud but dont pull that much of air. this is with koyo rad.

so you guys are saying a 14" fan is too big for the koyo? because i was about to purchase one soon. i surrently dont have a shroud right now or else i woudltn need to worry but too bad when i purchased my sr20, it didnt come witht he shroud. it wouldve savced me some money. i dont have any broblems with overheating, but i still want my engine cooled to the max.

The reason I CHOSE to go with electrical fans is to reduce parasitic loss, I used my KA ac fan and the SR fan side by side never had a problem with them, I set mine on high and hooked them to the ignition so every time the car stars the fans stars. If you cant find the fans that go on there go to autozone they have 12" fans that are universal they run @ 60 dollars a piece.
but if you could get the 14" one get it more flow = more cooling..
