At what rpms are you supposed to shift in each gear to have the best acceleration??

I know the search feature doesn't work right now, but just browse over the last few pages in either tech talk or chat and you'll find a few topics on this.

I just shift when it feels right.  When I'm just riding around I shift around 3 or 4K's but if I'm gunning it I'll shift aroun 5500 or so. Past that I feel like I'm just revving without any oompfh behind it.  Maybe I need to get an aftermarket camshaft

I shift between 6 and 6500, sumtimes I take it to 7 but it dosent seam to like it very much. It really depends on yer car and what mods have been done to it. You can usually tell when it's time to shift by the way it feels. Once it stops pullin' hard then it's time to shift. Just play with it and you'll figure it out. But dont take it past the redline!

Oh, mines a '91 DOHC btw.
