need some turbo help

hey I had a chance to take the manifold and turbo off today and would like to know a few things, 2 questions,

1. I noticed the new turbo is clocked differently than the t25, so I was just wanting to know if this is right, I have to loosen the bolts on the compressor side ( it apperas when compared to the stock turbo that the holes for the cooling and oil lines match to the exhaust side on both turbos) then I would need to fab a new bracket for actuator, how have you guys done this, or are most turbos already clocked the right way.

2. I think the lines are pretty straight forward with the exception of the coolant that goes to the back of the engine, the line that instead of having an AN fitting, is just a rubber hose, this is supposed to go to what? I know that the stock line is just that, a rubber hose that then connects to the hard line, so I understand that, but if I remove the stock line and then put this on, I am left with 2 female end rubber hoses, so I assume I would need a short piece of metal tube to connect the taka line to the coolant line on the back of the engine. do you guys know where I coudl find a line about three inches with barbs on each end. or am I going about this all wrong.

your turbo there bud has a external wastegate. therefore like u said u cant clock it unless u make that custom bracket. i personally like internal wastegates like on my A4 b/c u can clock them easily.

for the coolant line.. sometimes you have to undo the motor mounts, driveshaft and trans crossmember and lift the motor up a few inches to get that extra clearence to do that line. so u basically paid for a SS line but no AN fitting on one side? so pretty much a rubber line in a sleeve. anways, u prolly shouldnt have too much problem lifting that motor up since i was reading ur doing a vlsd and your driveshaft is prolly off anyways.

first off it is internally gated, just becasue the actuator is outside of the turbo dont mean its externally gated, thats how they are.

second of all how could that thing have an AN fitting on it whne it has to slip over a metal tube, what kind of an fitting will do that, besides the fittin on there that has the hose clamp, please read up, btw you have no a4 dakboy.

looks like your the dumbass buying a turbo before you do the research. im happy with my stock turbo on my a4 holding 21psi.

anyway if theres anybody other than clowns roaming around here if you can just help me with the line and let me know what you guys did, thanks. otherwise the clown comments can be passed on. I think I figured out about the clocking and btw v8, I Know its terrible that I have to reclock the turbo, I think I wasted 900 bux, I should have had one tailored to my every need.

yes the hose is supposed to be like that, would u give more detail first:

1) what kind of turbo, or then which engine it came off if its a used stocker.

2) what engine u putting it on. ka, sr, rb??

maybe then i could actually give u input.

I know the hose is supposed to be like that, im sayin thought that it is a female hose going to anothe female so how will I connect them and know what they will never loosen, If I just cut down the stock line and use that so i can slip the hose over it, then it might come off later down the road, its gt2871r sr20det s13,

You get one of those fittings that allows you to connect two female hoses. You use that style if you want to bypass a heatercore, that type of dea.l I'm doing a shitty job with this, here is an even shittier picture

okay here goes off experience of both questions...

turbo clocking is just that, loosen bolts on rings, turn center section, when u bolt it to motor/manifold, oil fittings go as straight up and down as possible. orientate exhaust/intake snails appropriately(this is as simple as figuring out how to get your mirrors adjusted for driving). most likely when u clock the setup, the actuator bracket can be rebolted on compressor housing using different ring bolts, i might be wrong because i havent seen ur specific turbo, but thats the way most are.

second water lines. u can do what i did, cut the hard metal tube, run a hose from each cut end. i used stainless braid mainly cuz manifold cooks everything(line will run very close to runners) i did a double flare to create the barbs.

second thing u can do is this: buy an fittings for 2x AN female/hose fittings, 2x male adapters(they sell weld on adapters that can be welded to the metal tubes, and have the normal male side to them) for hardlines. after cutting the hard line, weld adapters to tube, then use AN females to hook up to adapters. all of this can be had at your local hydra/air solution store. i didnt go this route(although i bought it all) cuz welding to the tube sucks. the adapters were a smidge too big in diameter, and tubing is pretty thin. looked like ass on a tube. so i cut it off and double flared, then did the hose splice.

oh shoulda mentioned I have taka lines, anyway thanks for thie tips I might either flare the end that I cut or just buy some more pipe, also I was able to bolt one of the wastegate holes to the turbo but the other one sits like 3 inch away so I need to makea bracket, nothin special, thanks. oh oh ,lastly does anyone know if it matters if the elbow ends on the lines go to the engine or to the turbo,
