S14 Lca

Anyone running s14 LCA's on their s13? i heard this causes negative camber like crazy. I dont even know if they fit for sure. I came up with this question when i was using the search feature on 5-lug conversion. Now i know why ppl dont search. Most of the shit that comes up is threads ppl start where ppl tell them to search. lol. Anyways.. So can I use the s14 LCA when i do the 5-lug swap. I know i need the hubs and spindles but i read that maybe if i use s14 LCA, i wont have to drill holes in the strut? IONO. Will the mounting holes and bushings be reusable? Dont flame me. i'll kick you in the nuts :ghey:

Well i used the search feature some more and kinda answered my own question, but kinda didnt. So all you have to do is make the 12mm holes into 14mm, not re-drill brand new holes...that's a lot better. But still i'd like to know if i can use s14 LCA and if it will improve handling or if it will cause toooooo much negative camber...IE: more than 4 degrees. I can adjust camber with my tien camber plates

edit:there was a picture side to side of s13 and s14 LCA, they didnt look much different except for a tab. It hardly looks longer so i imagine camber wont be affected by much

here's the pic

Yeah yeah, I know, this thread is old. I've been searching for an answer and haven't found it yet, so instead of making a new thread, we'll start here. My dilemma is I have new wheels coming-18x8.5 +35 and 18x9.5 +35. These are for my S13 Fastback with stock fenders. I know I'll need to probably roll the rear, but I think they'll fit fine. The front is the problem. Right now I have AGX/Sportlines but will be getting coilovers in the very near future. The 17x7.5 +40 BBS's I have now barely clear my AGXs and the new wheels will have 8mm less clearance inside, so I don't think they're even gonna clear the AGXs, much less coilovers. I had heard that S14 LCAs on an S13 will effectively give you another 10mm. What I want to know is if I swap in S14 Front LCAs if it will basically make the new wheels 18x8.5 +25... I'm really trying to avoid running spacers if possible.

Thanks in advance,
Bryan

no it will not give you 10mm of space. it will only allow for more camber and angle on your current suspension set up.

Yup, I got um on my car...... Makes you have a ton of negative camber and screws your alignment... so be sure to get an alignment after the direct swap.

The ball joints on the s14 lca won't fit correctly on with s13 knuckle spindle, you would have to change ball joints.

Oh yes I forgot about that.
TheTicTac is right. I swapped the whole S14 everything...

Sorry for the misinformation.

oii... ok...
now lets say you get the whole 5 lug front..
first off.. you have few options
you must get 5 lug hub and s14 spindle.
then you can either go pdm s13 lca w/ s14 ball joint or go straight s14 ball joint
w/ the s14 ball joint you gain automatically a degree and change in negative camber. you also change suspension geometry a bit to allow for more angle of the steering wheel.
I like it.. =)
also.. you just use a uni bit and redrill the front shock to accomodate the s14 bolt which is slightly bigger.

5 Lug is not part of the equation. I'm staying 4 lug. My new wheels are 4 lug and I have a Z Brake setup for all four corners that is already predrilled for 4 lug. The new wheels clear Z Brakes, I'm just worried about suspension clearance. So I need more clearance inside the wheel. I'm figureing I have no choice but spacers, just wanted to see if this would work. (Someone told me it would, but I wanted to see if that was true or if I was misinformed) It seems like all it will do is give me more camber, but no more suspension clearance, which is what I figures since it isn't moving the whole wheel, just pivoting the bottom outwards.

Thanks guys,
Bryan

IIRC, you cannot use the S14 LCA on an S13 with Z32 brakes. The LCA will not clear the Z32 rotors.

Incorrect. Same spacing to the spindle for either one.

Woah.....

Ok well S14 FLCA can be used on s14. Doing so will give it a (argueable) 10mm of additional spacing, also will pose a great deal of negative camber ( I know, I still havent aligned my car) on your intial alignment.

Z32 Brakes can be used in addtion to S14 LCA's on S13 as the use of LCA does not create a clearence issue on the car itself, it is the wheel alone that will ever cause this problem. This achieved by placing a S14 LCA, and S14 SPINDLE as well. This can also be accomplished with S14 LCA with a S13 Ball joint pressed into the S14 LCA utlizing the S13 spindle. Now perhaps not relevent, but hubs can be either or 4 or 5 lug as S14 came with both.

And NO you cannot use S13 hubs with s14 Spindles as they use diffrent bearings. the same does not apply to the rear hubs as they use Identical bearings.

Done deal.

Using an S14 LCA on a S14 won't get you any additional anything.
