transporting a ka24de engine

so i bought a 97 ka

now i need to figure out how to bring it to my place

i don't have access to a truck or SUV

i'd rather not rent a u-haul

i do have access to a old mid 90s chevy cavalier

think i could stuff the engine front passenger side if i remove the front seat?

the tranny should be able to fit in the back seat easily.

ah someone gimme some ideas. i need something creative

tranny can probably fit in the trunk, engine is a tough call... its pretty big, and wide so having enough room to get thru the door is kinda iffy... just find a friend with a pick up truck and pay him for the hour.. like 25-40 bucks

make sure u drain all the oil..... from engine and tranny

you mean the junkyard didn't drop it off and collect payment wherever you told them to, free of charge as long as it was within 50 miles?

I had a sr block sitting in my Sentra's pasanger seat for 3 weeks. The dash got f'd up from braking. My sentra was a beater so I could give a rats ass. A Crapaleer is no Benz, so just take off the tranny, put the long block on the pass seat, throw the tranny in the trunk, and double your braking distance, and you will be fine.

Ps: If you are using a engine lift to put the ka in the passenger seat, you will need to jack up the car. When I did mine, I rolled the engine lift ā€œnā€ engine towards the passenger seat, but the block only got to the door sill before the top of the engine lift (beam) hit the roof from the inside. So the more you push it in, the lower the engine lift has to be. It was a simple fix. I had to jacked up the passenger side of the car to be level with the angle of the engine lift beam (If you know what I mean). It took a total of 15 minutes to put the block in the car, and you have to do the same thing to take it out. If you had 3-4 friends there, then you can do it by hand., but if you are doing it solo like me, then you need to do the ^ unless you have a convertible.

when i got my ka longblock it had no accessories and no exhaust mani. just intake mani. took 3 of us to get it out of the back of the truck, but 2 of us could carry it around the garage with little trouble.

^ talk about lifting heavy crap. Two days ago, I had to move a rear sub frame (with diff) 40ft. There was no one home, and I was to lazy to strap on a chain and use a engine lift so I just grabbed the fucker by the sway bar lifted it 2-3" off the ground, and started walking. I could only go 5-10ft at a time, but I made the 40ft within two minutes. After I dropped it off, my back felt numb. It felt weird. Then 6hrs later to now as we speak, my back burns when I take a deep breath, which I'm sure is not a good thing. Moral of the story, patience is a virtue.

I once put a complete KA24DE (no tranny) in the trunk of my hatch.

and drove for ~90 miles.

Thank god I had coilovers - I think stock suspension would've fucking died.

The junkyard dropped my KA off at a friend's shop, they put it on the back of my sister's fiancee's truck off of an engine lift and my brother and I put it on an engine stand when we reached our ultimate destination... You MUST know at least one person with a truck you can use
