Unhappy Just cracked the plastic panel around my CD unit in my S14, please help.

I bought a new deck to replace my broken one in my 240sx. I managed to get the plastic piece that surrounds the AC off easily but I am having lots of troubles getting the plastic piece off that surrounds the tape player and cd player. I got the top clip off of the left side of the unit and then while trying to get the right clip off the right side cracked...My car is totally pristine and I am quite an anal person about this things so I am really angry about this right now. I was not even pulling hard on it and being as careful as possible. I hate these clips. Any tips on how to get this damn thing off?

I finally got it off. It sure has a god awful design...The thing has screws going into it from the back so you pretty much have to break it just to remove it. Ah well...Now time to finish the install.

yeah, I was looking at them. my radio trim is totally gone. the cigarette lighter housing and all. I pulled my radio out to test one I found, and it all came apart like a sandrock. Those things get real weak with all the heat they get over time.

Here are some good instructions for installing a head unit if anoyone needs:

You're an idiot, simple. The trim, radio, and pocket all come out in one piece, then you remove the trim from behind the deck with the four screws. If you couldn't figure that out you need to go back to first grade.

idiots. it's very simple to remove.
pull off the top AC/vent trim. then pull off the shifter trim. now you will see 2 Philips bolts up top and 3 philips bolts on bottom. one on each corner, then there's one behind the ash tray. now you can slide out the entire radio, din tray and radio trim. it's all in one piece. now flip the radio around, and you'll see 2 bolts on each side of the radio holding down the trim. the side brackets hold the radio, and trim together.

There are some people out there that shouldn't touch a car, period.

Yea, I should not touch a car because I broke a clip taking off my radio trim. Give me a break asshole.

All of this is comming from a person who has driftingisgay in their sig though, I should have guessed.

Sorry that i have not posted that part onto our website yet. I have a very good reason for it. I was not happy with the 1st gen prototype that i made. Since the panel is bonded alluminum honeycomb, mounting screws into it was a issue. Some people might screw them in too tight, and crush the core. So i am going with a magnetic mounting design. Where neodymium magnet slugs are embeded into the core between the laminates. And small metal brackets mount into the dash area with adhesive. The panel is basically held on with these extremely strong and reliable little magnets. But you can remove the panel without tools or
screwing up the edges of it. Please understand that i am trying to make some extremely reliable panels that do not come apart on you. Carbon roof plug is the same way. We no longer sell from our website, as we are at that point where dealer interest has increased in our parts. There are actually about 5 new parts not yet on the website. I have just been too busy! You can buy our parts thru Rare Trick and any of the six Mossy Nissan dealerships in San Diego county. Again, this part will be avail in about a week.

Mike

They will be a little pricey because of the multiple steps involved in production. About $80. Both S13 and S14.
