FAL 220 wiring questions
1. Since this model does not have the thermostat control is there a way to wire it other than using an ignition power supply?
2. If I did use the ignition power supply the fan would be constantly running...i understand this wouldn't be detremental in any way other than pulling amps from my electrical system but is there any other detrement to running it this way? 3. I took out the A/C but still have the electrical fan harness...after reading through the electrical documents in the FSM that fan seems to be triggered by the A/C. So...if I hooked up the FAL 220 to that it will only go on when the A/C goes on *when i press the button on the dash. So, the main question is...what power source do most of you splice to power your FALs? Thanks

power for the fan comes straight from the battery
relay switch with the ignition so the fan is on only when the car is on thermostat between the relay and the ground fusible link on the fan circuit close to the battery |

or you can replace the thermoswitch in the post above with a toggle that you can control.

but see the 220 doesn't come with a thermostat...so if i just hooked it up to the ignition, it'd be on all the time whenever the car was on. i guess that'll have to be what it is....any problem with it running all the time other than drawing amps???

Or you can hook up a painless wiring kit like I did. Its real simple. I just make a pipe that tapped into the radiator hose, but it in 2 pieces and clamped the other ends. Ran the sensor in there. Power to a relay, ground, ignition, and thats it. Turns on at 190 and off at 170. Its not good to leave your fans on all the time becuase they will live a shorter life. FAL fans arnt cheep. You can see in the pic where I put the sensor.
