s14 s14 in the making... what should i do

got my s14...

swapped tranny with better miles...
exedy stage 2 6puck clutch (kinda feel awkward about that even tho its japanese)converting to z32 front brakes soon..
but after all that what should i do.... i was thinkin sway bars..
when i had the car under the lift.. i didnt see the vsld sticker on the diff.. was wondering if i should swap it to a jdm one..with better axles..... aneways gimme some options...if anyone has ever installed a exedy stage 2 clutch tell me about it..i wanna know how it grabs...

im confused as hell with references you made, but of course the Exedy clutch will feel wierd, its a 6 puck regardless if its Japanese or not!

a jdm vlsd i beleive is no different from a US vlsd....

it depends on what you wanna do....z32 brakes is a good investment, aftermarket LSD is a huge improvement, blah blah blah...all depends on what you wanna do

errr... well is there a point to these mods? what are you doing with the car? modding for no reason = rice. otherwise it all depends on what you are setting the car up for.

Aznpoopy is right, even though his definition of "rice" is a bit odd. I always thought rice meant all show, no go.

Anyway, what do you want to accomplish with the car? Drag car? Auto-x? Modified street? If you have a particular direction you want to head in, we can help you decide on what your next mods should be.

My personal opinion is that you should always start with the suspension, wheels, and tires. I know some people are into big power, but I've always liked a car that -drives- really nicely, as opposed to one that's really fast when it's going straight.

hehe yes my defintion of rice is much broader then most people. i also include the 50 year old guy with a expensive sports car with auto tranny 'rice' (purchased for looks and status no doubt). or the guy with the corvette who punches the throttle on the straight and crawls on the turn.

back on topic... brakes is a good mod for any car. 240 rotors warp easily and brakes fade very very quickly. tires too, as mr. pier said. tires = stop, go and turn. beyond that it would depend on your familiarity with the car and your driving ability. if you are just learning one or the other, i would leave everything stock and upgrade as i encountered the limits of what i can do with a certain part, or when stuff breaks.

I already autox... and thats just with hondas..aneways i want it setup for drifting...reffering to the exedy clutch.... ive never used any of their performance racing ones....and everyone i know who races... said theyve never used it before...thats why im kinda questionable about it... but yah brakes are one of my ideal mods..suspensions will beand then everything else... from the ground up basically...reason why im kinda confused...about my car not having a lsd is.. when we had it on the lift a fellow friend with a 240 said mines not LSD.. which kinda pissed me off considering i bought that car for a reason.its 95 240sx se.. and i thought...SE models for the s14 chassis came with VSLD...got it... im kinda new to this nissan thing...so give me a break..i need rims tho..... but thats last on this list.....

Well... Its a big IF when it comes to the LSD in a 95+ 240 as far as I have seen... The stock one is good.. But if your going for drift'n get a good clutch type... Ez nuff to find...

You can drift a stock HP car... With the 95 240's I noticed mine "had" a buch of bodie role...

Here is the order I would do things...

1: Clutch type LSD
2: Full coilover with pilloball mounts.
3: Full swaybar set.
4: Front and back Strut bars.
5: Replace old bushings.

That should be a nice start... Looks like about ehh 3.0 - 3.5k in stuff.

for drift you can go with the car as is. you don't need a VLSD or anything to drift. i would upgrade the suspension as things break, but thats my budget-minded side talking hehe. i would save money for tires and wheels. strut bars are also a very good idea. sucks about the VLSD but you can drift on open differential. btw why not drift /w the honda. sounds like you're much more familiar with it.

I might have to disagree about the sway bars, id rather have front and rear latter bars, I find that much better for a drift setup.

And imo, you should NOT START drifting on a fully modded setup, you wont know what to do with it and you will seriusly suck, and make a huge fool of yourself, work with your stock setup, get VLSD work with it, use the body roll, and when you eather break or really outgrow your stock suspention, replace it.
