Damn speedo acting up.........

Has anyone had a problem where their speedometer rises at idle when reving the motor, then it stops once the idle is back down. The problem with this is when the car is warming up the tach is around 2k or so and the speedo is reading like 50mph and the mileage moves too??? For my S13

I searched and two guys had the same problem but they havent made a post since 2002 without any solutions

The sensor shouldn't be moving at all if you're in idle in neutral.

Posibilties:
gauge cluster
VSS
wiring to VSS

You may want to add that the speedo should show the true speed of the car regardless of the gear and engine speed you're at.

So if you sit in the parking lot, it should not move at all no matter how hard you rev it. Obviously if you're coasting it should show whatever speed the car is moving at.

the speedo fluctuates at idle when i rev the motor up also causing the odometer to move. Anything above 750 at idle causes the digital speedo to move from 50mph-100mph???

Ooohh, DIGITAL speedo? Well, that shouldn't matter, the sensors should be the same. I'd replace the speed sensor and see if it makes anything better.
