whoa whoa whoa
the tranny is secured in multiple places. there are also things secured to the tranny. you only need to take out the front half of the driveshaft, between the carrier bearing the transmission. there are four bolts to attach it to the center bearing thinger. unbolt em. then, slide it out of the tranny towards the back of the car. you do not need to unbolt it from the differential. it is a two piece driveshaft. to drop the tranny you only need to remove the front piece. as for dropping the tranny: - sensors unplug. goes without saying. unbolt the slave cylinder from the tranny. hang it up somewhere. unbolt the exhaust bracket from the tranny mount bracket. remove the driveshaft. - it is bolted to the engine. you need to take those bolts off. - it is secured by a crossmember (in which resides the transmission mount) unbolt the crossmember, while supporting the tranny with a jack. once all of the above is loose, slide the tranny out towards the back of the car, while supporting it with a jack. be careful taking it out. if you get tired pulling, and rest it for a bit, you might accidentally put stress on the input shaft, fuxoring the input shaft bearing. |

i have the slave cylinder unbolted and hanging, and the exhaust bracket. the front section of the driveshaft was also completely unbolted. hmmm i guess it just needs a little force to come out.
thanks for the quick reply |

hey..i have yet to see u mention that u removed teh tranny bolts that go into the block. if u have removed all of the tranny bolts and tranny crossmember it should slide off. if not use a pry bar in that little hole at teh bottom of teh tranny where teh tranny and motor mate. that should help it slide off.
buy my tranny jack...adapter(fits in standard floor jack)..its worthless to me. <===muscles

i got it out.
the mid joint in the driveshaft way rusted and BENT. lol. the only problem was getting to the top bolt on the block. the tranny was suprisingly light. this is the first time ive ever attempted something like this, and it was a piece of cake. i cant wait to start rebuilding my engine. i love this shit ![]() oh ya, my jackstands tipped over and i almost died, luckly i left my jack under the car haha.....ya |
