which one is a better buy as far as quality and reliability? need to buy one by this weekend. any help is appreciated.

The cheaper one.

Seriously...a ball-n-spring MBC is as simple as it gets...and +$100 for one is INSANE.

Also take a look at the "Joe-P" controllers.
