![]() Thought I'd share some of what I did this week.
As part of the universal effort to get the car running better, Installed and Aeromotive FPR and fuel filter with associated AN fittings and Also Recirculated my BOV and rerouted the catch can lines. Results are pretty good as my milage improved quite noticably; I did a 225mile MA to NY trip with just over half a tank of gas this morning. I also noticed that the car is more peppy and I no longer have the annoying bogging or backfire. Just thought I'd share... I have more installation pics and stuff if anyone is interested. Already; REDtop with stock turbo, Walbro 255 fuel, pumpTurboXS manual adjuster, Greddy Turbo extension & Megan downpipe, Exedy Stage 2, FMIC, Greddy RS BOV, 3" Catback, Toda Flywheel, B&M shortshifter, s15 Helical Diff, Koyo Radiator and Flexalite twin elect fans with thermostat cheers Last edited by PhopsonNY; 03-26-2006 at 04:52 PM.. |

Rerouted Catch can also
Thanks guys... I had fun, I also rerouted the catch can
I followed this guide that kept all the original Nissan design, but avoided pouring oil into my intake. Made sense to me ![]() http://sr20forum.com/showthread.php?t=80048. Just put a "T" junction under the Catch Can and routed to the PCV valve. Connected the top to the intake pipe after the MAF thus providing the required vacuum. The Can is supported higher and I made sure it cleared the hood when finished. Ignore the PCV filter... I blocked it off internally... did not have a nice solution at the time and this looks ok albeit not functional. |

your gas mileage is amazing! I get 300 miles per tank about 23-25 mpg. So what is your fuel pressure set to? and were your running the stock 7psi on turbo when you did that?

Fuel Pressure
Yeah... thanks.
I kept wondering if there was something wrong, but I would say that I probably drove the trip faster on average than any other time. The car seemed much smoother as if it was not working as hard. Anyway, FPR is set at 36psi with vacuum and 44 without vacuum. Boost is set at about 10-11psi. I do have a O2 sensor that is about a month old. I do notice the car heats up a little quicker than it used to... ie the electric fans kick in to bring the temp down more often. In addition, I am still looking for the cause of turbo lag in 1st gear; full boost art 5k. ![]() I did not have the above problems when the swap was originally done last summer. They came on suddenly, have not found a boost or exhaust leak with my tester. Timing is stock. Compression is 152 accross the board. The upgrades are all part of trying to get it running perfectly again. |

Lean?
Slidin240Wayz...
what are you trying to do to your car? Timanator... Yeah, I had the same MBC back then, even tried a new one just to see if it was causing the problem. To tell the truth... I would need a wideband to tell if I am running lean or rich. Don't have plans for that just yet... but maybe... ![]() |
