KA Temp Guage Sensor
Ok my S14 KA latly has been overheating!
I Already.... -changed the thermostat -check to make sure I have a good head gasket -fresh radiator fluid/bled the system -checked my radiator (no leaks) -tested 2 different radiator caps (to check if it still overheats) -fresh oil in my motor -changed my temp sensor ground But what it's been doing is jumping staight to the "H" after about driving like 5mins or less...it goes a little over half at first then jumps all the way up? What makes me think it's my temp guage sensor is that motor doesn't act like it over heats? My motor still has power my clutch fan is blowing cold air, not hot air? It's not showing signs of overheating? So my friend with his software on his computer hooked up my car to his computer & it read my car 240 degrees!! But my car was idleing fine/blowing cool air? So can the Temp guage be bad & basically be lieing to me about the tempeture but really be at regular operating tempature?

You probably need to bleed the cooling system. There is air trapped behind the thermostat, so it never opens. So the car does fine until the temp starts rising, then overheats very quickly because there's no coolant circulating. Don't continue to drive it. I'll bet the lower radiator hose never gets warm...that means coolant is not circulating. Search on here for how to bleed a KA...you'll find a lot of good info. - Brian

Have you checked the radiator to make sure it's not clogged or blocked? You may need to give it a good flush if you haven't already.
Also, for bleeding the system, I've found that one of the easiest ways to do it is to cut a Plastic Bottle in half and then stick the top half in the coolant fill on the radiator and then pour fluid into it. The Coolant will naturally want to go down due to gravity which will force any air out of the system through the bleeder hole. Last time I bled coolant on my S13 I did it this way and it only took a few minutes at idle. |

Ok so I got fed up with the Overheating!
So I took out my radiator flushed it out completely put it back in poured anti-freeze/water, put my car on jack stands put heater on full blast used thefro526 technic & bled the shit out of it & GOT OUT ALL THE AIR BUBBLES (IT HAD ALOT TOO BTW)! Now my car is fine & no more overheating! ![]()
