JWT Cam Sprockets

Curious. Anyone used them before?

Tonight I'm going to experiment how far of a retard I can do with stock 91 cams.

They're in incriments of 2.5degrees with a max of 10

dont have jwt, i have tomei with toda 264 cams. but i have everything else in the head built as well..if i retard the cams my car runs like crap. so all i do is keep stock timing, which gives me awesome high end power and pretty good midrange...or advance maybe 2.5 notches which is equal to 5 degrees, only on the exhaust side. that gives me pretty good low-midrange. on tomei sprockets each notch is 2 degrees. i havent tried advancing the intake cam at all. i always keep it stock.

Those toda's must be advertised value for duration.

I'm told to contact JWT to research a cam taht'll put me at a powerband from 5-7K+

A .401(actuall lift) 254(actual duration) *i may be off on lift* cam puts the power band on a ka to start at 7k.

on stock cam timing, my powerband starts at about 4.2k and goes alll the way up to redline. let me tell you, these toda cams are awesome...the powerband REALLY kicks in after 4k...10.5mm, 264 duration, on both intake and exhaust.

Good stuff. I also have the toda valve springs (custom shims to increase the spring rate) Ferrea stainless valves that were also custom made, tomei bronze valve guides, port and polish, intake mani and exhaust mani were also portmatched, and ported..intake mani was ported but not polished so the fuel can atomize, and rocker arms stoppers, tomei sprockets. my head looks beautiful and performs even better then it looks. i heard that you can use the SOHC cam on your exhaust side for increased power?

being pinked is a punishment i got for going off on some people on a thread for trying to insult my intelligence. but i wont get into that.

ya i have an s14 blacktop. JWT makes one of the best cams from what i hear, but for my motor, i have VTC, which gives the SR better low end/midrange power then the s13 SRs. When you use aftermarket cams, most companies dont allow you to keep the VTC so you can only use the Toda cams or another company that allows you to keep VTC, otherwise you gotta use cam gears on both the exhaust and intake side in which will get rid of the VTC. you can choose to get rid of the VTC which will help when you are pushing over 350-400 hp or so.

So basically on the VTC motors, if you wanna keep VTC since it feels so good and the power band is smooth all the way up, you can only use the cam sprocket on the exhaust side, and thats why i dont advance or retard the intake cam, and only the exhaust cam. make sense? sorry for rambling.

i forget..i think it was around $200 or somthing for both. i have an extra one thats brand new, cus im only using 1. but i think they only fit SR.

I know JWT makes them for the SR. I paid 140 for the KA ones. might be the same price for SR ones. Dunno

i like the tomei gears cus all you do is loosen the 6 allen key bolts and turn the camshaft with a 24mm wrench, and you're done. very simple and very accurate. and they look badass.

well i just got mine in and retarded them both 2.5degree's

noticable powerband pushed up higher int he rpms (slightly)
and seems to pull better

Testing it out at teh track friday. Then go to 5 degrees saturday morning and test that sunday at the track

yeah well my power band is now from 3800/3900-5800/5900

So it was a nice little jump didnt drop off as early ast stock
