Question KA will not start! help

Tried turning the car on a few days ago. Did not start. It cranks and the starter is working. I tried a few hours later and it started! Few days go by with no problems. Tried to start last night and didnt start again. Havent been able to get it going since. Jump start will not work. The clutch interlock switch is good. I tested the battery, seems good. It is weird that it didnt start, but then started again later that night. When I try, it bogs a little like it starts to go, but then dies. KA has about 230,000 miles on it. I have changed the fuel filter before, cleaned MAF, checked engine ground. Cant think of anything else. Need some help.

Edit: Before this started, my car used to run really rich, backfire in lower RPM's, and run kinda sluggish.

so your saying that sometimes it will turn over and sometimes it wont?
could just be your starter. as for your car running a tad sluggish have you changed your timming any time recently? could be off and also make you car not start up as quickly.

it could also be your distributor and also. i had exact same symptoms like you a little while back and it was my distributor. fuel pump went out on me too before that and similar symptoms but not as close. check with a screw driver to see if the coil and distributor are getting spark going through it

Ok, WTH. I just noticed that this was dug up from the grave. But it was the fuel pump that crapped out, just in case anyone has the same problem. You can check for fuel pressure from the fuel filter hose, or I checked the pump connecter with a multimeter. Had to change it out...with gas still in the tank! Oh well. No more S14 for me.

BTW: I have S14 parts for sale.
