Has anyone used that chemical that comes in a silver bottle called Engine Restore?  It comes in 4, 6, and 8 cylinder "strengths".  I am thinking about getting some for the 63 Ford prior to rebuilding it, but was curious if anyone else has used it.  I wrote the company asking for an exact technical explanation of how and why it works, but don't know if they'll give me that.

is it the stuff that cleans out your engine internally??? like those fuel systems additives that unclog your injectors and stuff??? if it is, i tried it just for "what if" purposes, i don't know if it really helped any, but my car ran smoother...

i used it on my 89 toyota camry w/ 256,000 miles on it, but at the time it was my brother's, he called me when he went out, and said "what did you do to the car, everytime i accelerate on the freeway to merge, it takes me forever, now it's lot more responsive"  i believe it help seals the piston rings a bit to restore compresion.  but again, that was a freakin 89 toyota w/ 256,000 miles...  i don't think it cleans out your engine though, i'm not using it on my 240 right now because i don't know how well they work w/ synthetic, and i'm afraid there might be side effects, such as it clogging up somthing in the engine (since it's made to seal pisons...)

Yeah, that's what I was wondering about.  I figure it's some material that hardens under pressure, and gets blown out the exhaust or hids in the cracks.  I suppose it won't kill to try it, seeing as the straight 6 is old, and original.  Been rebuilt once, but that was in 94 and it seems to be leaking a little on number 3 and 6.  Seeing as I may rebuild it or swap in an 8 cyl. I think I'll go get some for amusement.

Please note: &nbsp; This is just a temporary fix. &nbsp;I still think almost all chemicals are total bullshit! &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
