Removing exhaust cat bolts
Well, I was in the process on installing my exhaust, and, as expeted, there is a hangup. The bolts which bolt the midpipe of the new catback to the cat seem to have been welded together. I kinda realized this and tried drenching it in wd-40 for about 4 days prior to working on it. Also, the bolt itself seems to have no threads as from heating and cooling, it seems to have warped the metal to the point of looking almost molten and rusted.
I already almost rounded one of the nuts with my impact wrench and the other is in too of an awkward position to use the impact. My next step of process is to just take it to midas or a muffler shop locally and just have em cut it off and drive back with only the cat. But, before I go ahead and do that, I wanted to see if you guys had any more ideas before this is all done. Thanks. |

If you don't have a porch you can use, take it to a shop, they shouldn't charge much, I don't know what they charge in Jamaica. But That would be easyest. Where in Jamiaca are you?

I am currently in the US right now. Was in JA for a while.
Actually, what I might just end up doing is taking it to a shop. Maybe easier. I will check prices monday morning. Thanks |

I imagine if you had one at your disposal you would have already used it but I ended up using a torch to heat my exhaust bolts to the point where they would break free. I had the same problem where they were virtually welded together, but after heating the nuts up to the point they were glowing I was able to take them off with very little resistance.
