I need some recommendations on a new set of tires...but not just for kicking around town. I'll be transferring to a new college this Fall and well to get to it I gotta drive up this big ass mountain. There's about 3 passing zones and that's it and even the passing zones are like 35MPH zones and "S" curves...it's gonna be a fun drive (probably in 3rd gear all the way, lol) but a hard one on a set of tires so does anyone have any suggestions as to what types to look into? Obviously not any more Z rated because they'd be gone in one weekend going up that mountain...are they're any brands that have decent grip to get me up the hill but not so soft that they'll be eaten up in one trip there and back home? Thanks!

Try the Dunlop FM-901s. they're renowned throughout asia as a great tire, but have only just been introduced in N. America. The treadwear on these things are only 200 though -- but I've heard they last slightly longer than similar "200" treadwear ratings. I've got a set on my 240 now, but have yet to really try them out.

Another tire you may consider is the Falken FK-105... or... 115? ... sorry I forget the number that comes after 'FK'... it's got a treadwear of 280 and looks to be a good tire, for a pretty good price. I'm not sure where you can find those online, but I've seen them around.

A little follow up here...anybody tried the BF Goodrich Comp T/A VR4's? They have a treadwear of 340 and a good all-around rating on TireRack.com for traction and handling. Let me know your opinions &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
