My brake fiasco is finally over :)

If any of you followed my previous thread, I had a caliper on my 98 start to freeze up I found. It began coating the side of my car and wheels with a mixture of brake dust and rust. Not to mention the noise.

So I order a set of R32 GT-R brakes off-line with e-brakes. Takes forever, but they come in a big box without any types of packing material and the box is in about as bad shape as possible with tears and rips all in it (it's 100lbs+).

Shipper recommended I did not accept the package, but I figure it would / should be ok, save a few bumps.

Turns out I get 2 totally shot rear rotors, should never have been shipped. The brakes are actually R33 GTS-T's (296x30mm not 296x32mm), which is still plenty of brake, but not what I paid for....one of the rear calipers has a 1/4" chunk out of it (luckily repairable with JB Weld to be invisible)...this did not happen in shipping. The ebrakes have cut cables which was fine, but they also took off the attaching nuts anyway, including the large spindle to backing plate nuts and washers.

But worst of all I get two left calipers.

Meanwhile my brake is messing up my car, luckily I have a 10min commute only to work.

At the same time this is now about May, I am on the second Nissan shop that is telling me they have rear rebuild kits for the calipers as well as the R33 GTS-T ebrake cables....I started my order in February!

Finally about 3 months into it I get back a right caliper. I just pay $90 for Courtesy's marked up set and am told my cables have shipped. Two weeks later still no cables. I am told, well we are having a bit of a problem on getting in our order. (they basically lied to me on shipping them).

My wife is in Japan at this time so I call her and tell her to pick up the ebrake cables and whatever rear rebuild kits the dealer has (they only had a pair of cables, but 6 sets of seals on the shelf (I have them on ebay now)).

I get them cleaned up and powdercoated while I am waiting for her to come back with the cables, and then rebuild them all. Finally great brakes. My wheels have turned black on one side of the car, and my white is mostly red on that side as well.

Get everything mounted and bled and all is great except the dust and rust on my car and wheels. I was able to it mostly off the body with a clay bar, the wheels I finally finished yesterday after about 10 hours with wheel cleaner, CLR, a plastic pick/scrapers and clay. Fortunately the wheels look like nothing ever happened to them.

Talk about easy project turned to project from hell.

I am now going through something similar with folding mirrors. Auction shows mint, I get them and they are scratched, cracked and missing parts.

Seller "I am not sure what is wrong though".

Thank god for paypal disputes.
