Trouble Mating Auto Trans to Engine...

Seperated auto trans from engine to do service. Hadn't removed the torque convertor yet.

So, I'm trying to mate the trans back to the engine through the torque convertor. This damn this is impossible to get in. I've lined up the two notches from the convertor to the transimission and tried to slide the trans in, but it still won't go in all the way.

Help! I need my car back on the road soon and this is the only thing stoppping me. Looking forward to replies...

If you get it on dead straight it will go on. You may have to raise the backend or even lower the backend of the tranny to tilt it to get it on perfectly straight. Also make sure there are no electrical harnesses in the way when you do get it to go. You don't want to get one stuck inside the bellhousing then have to take it off again.

Remove the torque converter. Slide it into the transmission, all the way, it will 'lock' in place twice, keep going until it's fully seated, then set it on the engine. What you're attempting is twice the work since you can't rotate either part enough to get it aligned.
