![]() Well, I pretty much f'd up when I started banging at the rear spidle/axle with a hammer without the lock nut on it! OUCH! Well I meesed up the threads on the axle/spindle because the end of the driveshaft kinda got bent up. Now I need to rethread (I hope I can
![]() I need to know the thread pitch (size) for the rear axle/spinle in order to get the correct die to rethread it. I know that the metric size is 36mm though for the rear lock nut. This is for the rear axle spindle (driveshaft?) for a S14. Also, if anyone else has any smart ideas, GREATLY APPRECIATED! |

Just replace the axle. 240SX axles never break...so they are in abundance at junkyards. Pull the 6 bolts at the diff and swap axles over. Just make sure you get the axle from the correct side...the axles are different lengths.
It isn't worth rethreading. |

Well...do you have the nut that came off? Take that to a place that has taps and dies, and try and match it. (I'm trying to help...just don't know the answer offhand and telling you what I'd do).
Got 5 bolt axles? Get axles off a J30. Dennis |

I am just going to buy a thread file ( http://www.airsmith.com/Store/threadfile/index.html )and fix it. I'll take the nut off my car and find the TPI at the hardware store, then buy the right thread file.
I will post my findings. |

Sorry to bump an old thread, but at least i used the 'search' function
![]() I basically have the same exact question. Just the nut somehow stripped the thread, not really sure how (i didn't bang it w/ a hammer) Does anyone know the thread pitch for a japanese 180sx (rps13) rear axle?...not really sure if it's different from the USDM 240sx, i'm assuming the pitch is the same though. I bought a rethreading set, but don't know which size to use. I know i can take the nut to get measured or just buy new axles, but it'd save me a lot of time/hassles if i could just rethread it. So if anyone knows the pitch, it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks! If nobody knows, anyone know of any jdm importers that would happen to have the rear rps13 axles laying around as i need to get my car back on the ground asap. |

Just take it to a machine shop and say fix it.
They'll most likely bevel out the beat threads and then clean up the rest of them. I did the same to mine and machine shop fixed it for 20$ |
