click, clank, snackle, crackle, pop goes my welded diff.
My welded diff makes lots of clunks and and chatter noise while turning any amount at low speeds.
I fully expected tire hop and squeeling, but this noise is coming FROM THE DIFF. I know its normal in a 2 way, but should this be happening in a welded? Everything is solid now, so i dont even see where this could be coming from... normal or not? thanks |

a professional welder i know. I made him weld every possible spot. ALL spider gears were welded where they met, and were also welded to the wall of the carrier(i think thats what its called) wherever they were close enough.
I'm not worried about the welds, moreso the gears themselves. The gears were fairly tight and were actually hard to spin by hand when out of the car. The subframe bushings ARE worn, but i have the poly inserts..... thanks for the reply! |
